A comparison built around your life
The City Compass
See the practical lenses we use to compare German cities and districts before a housing search begins.
Four lenses, one decision
A city comparison becomes useful when every option faces the same questions. The City Compass is our framework for organising those questions; it is used in consultations, not sold as software or a standalone report.
Housing reach
We compare the warm-rent ceiling, likely floor area, district availability and the amount of flexibility your requirements leave. A price average is only a starting point; the attainable combination matters.
Movement
Workplace geography, transfers, service frequency, airport or intercity links and the journey to school or childcare reveal whether a location functions through an ordinary week.
Daily rhythm
Density, evening activity, green space, grocery access, international communities and preferred ways of spending free time help distinguish places that look similar on a spreadsheet.
Moving sequence
Job start, temporary housing, registration, document readiness and time available for in-person viewings shape which option is realistic now, even if another city remains attractive later.
What the comparison produces
We create a weighted matrix, but the conversation around each weight matters more than the score. The final output records a leading location, specific districts for research, open questions and a fallback route. It never claims to predict personal happiness or rental acceptance.
Put your shortlist through the compass
Choose the City Shortlist Session for a focused comparison, or send your moving context if several parts of the relocation are still undecided.
